Poetry isn’t just the smushing together of rhyming verses or unrhyming feelings, and it’s not just a soggy wad of words pulled out of a stream of consciousness. It’s the difference between a brick of sparkly rock and a diamond. It’s chiseled and carved and sweated over.
It’s harder to write than a song because it has to make you make the music in your head.
Poetry doesn’t just come out if you, you pull it out with a forceps.
