I think @ladygaga embodies everything I LOVE about our culture

I’m trying to figure out why I’m so in awe of this woman. She’s a vast artistic talent. She seems to be utterly aware of where she is in life - on the cusp of a long, exciting career. She could have been the next Norah Jones, Nellie Furtado, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Christina Aguilera - but instead, she chose to be something wholly unique. She picked the path of pop music, even though she is so aware of its worst qualities and is constantly making fun of them while at the same time embracing them.

She doesn’t just wear a lot of costumes on stage - she wears ridiculous costumes, some so unwieldily (see the above) that she has to constantly fight it in order to be able to sit at a piano and sing at the same time.

She doesn’t just sing about sex, she combines the subtle flirtations of a young Madonna with the hard, explicit edge of Nine Inch Nails and yet never really going over the edge.

I admire her confidence - so keenly aware of where she is and unabashedly pushing her artistic vision right into the public eye and demanding attention. I love that her weirdness is so captivating to so many people. I love that her weirdness is making her so much money. I love that her absurdist, almost dadaist shaking-up of pop music and performance art and female empowerment is just so completely unexpected.

I don’t own a single Lady Gaga song, and I barely even listen to her music, but I am a 100% fan of everything she does.
